Our client was a shipping and logistics company operating from the USA. They aimed at making their truck booking accurate for their users by reducing costs. They were looking for a solution to minimize the time spent on entering rates and to implement automatic rate calculations. They contacted us with a need to improve efficiency of their system, minimize response time, and reduce errors.
The client was looking for a solution that could transform their internal operations and improve overall efficiency. Below are some goals which they wanted to fulfil at their best.
The prior developed application had an integration issue in entering truck rates for each customer and zip code because it has to be input manually.
There was no provision in the application for adjusting the rates for trucks in relation to the pick-up zip code and the delivery zip code, and it was not operational throughout the United States.
The app failed to among other things, provide a way through which customers could know the best possible rate, thus lacking in the value addition to end users.
Our approach consisted of determining the areas that could be automated and benefited from such an approach and having the most significant issues in mind.
To solve this problem, we developed an auto-truck rate that fetches the rates dependent on the details of the customer and its location, alongside adding a benefit quantification to assist the end users in pinpointing the most appropriate rates.
To avoid breakdowns we took the new features and tested them thoroughly and polishing the last details to the point just before the final release.
Based on the requirements from clients, we carried out market research, and identified the weaknesses of the current system.
The design team settled on convenient and easy-to-understand screens and flows, giving the application a relatively easy interface.
Assisted by our development team, who used Java and REST API to create the features, the program became automated in all aspects for accurate functionality.
Substantial measures were taken to prioritize the quality of the solution, proving how it would provide user-satisfactory performance.
After testing the solution was implemented to the level of compatibility with the client’s system with no compromise on functionality.
The automation of truck rate fetching saved significant time, eliminating the need for manual entry.
The app now retrieves rates faster, improving overall operational efficiency.
The Benefit Calculation feature ensures that the client’s customers receive the best possible rate, providing them with lower costs and better pricing.
The ability to apply rates for all zip codes in a country expanded the app’s reach, enabling more comprehensive service.
Automation reduced the chance of human errors, improving the accuracy of rate fetching.
