HTML 5

HyperText Markup Language (HTML) is the predominant markup language for web pages. HTML elements are the basic building blocks of webpages. Hypertext is text displayed on a computer or other electronic device with references (hyperlinks) to other text that the reader can immediately access, usually by a mouse click or key press sequence. Apart from running text, hypertext may contain tables, images and other presentational devices. Hypertext is the underlying concept defining the structure of the World Wide Web. It is an easy-to-use and flexible format to share information over the Internet.

The World Wide Web language HTML has been importantly revised for fifth version to the core language HTML5. HTML5 is an abbreviation to Hypertext Protocol Markup Language 5. HTML5 is a response to the observation that the HTML and XHTML in common use on the World Wide Web are a mixture of features introduced by various specifications, along with those introduced by software products such as web browsers and those established by common practice. HTML5 is a potential candidate for cross-platform mobile applications. Many features of HTML5 have been built with the consideration of being able to run on low-powered devices such as smart phones and tablets, mainly to support mobile application development and for widely used enterprise mobility solutions.

HTML5 is a language for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web, and is a core technology of the Internet. It is also an attempt to define a single markup language that can be written in either HTML or XHTML syntax. It includes detailed processing models to encourage more inter-operable implementations; it extends, improves and rationalizes the markup available for documents, and introduces markup and application programming interfaces (APIs) for complex web applications.

HTML5 has gone through an exhaustive process of revision and improvement to cater to the needs of today’s users, who demand better functionality and enhanced user experience from their applications. Applications designed and coded in HTML5, are intended to run on cross platform technologies and provide a rich user interaction. HTML5 has provided much better room for creativity to developers offering rich designing experience and compatibility for cross platform applications.

The utilization of HTML5 for mobile websites is in itself brilliant. There is an even more significant benefit to it; HTML5 applications can be cross-compiled to work on the iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows mobile. The improved version of HTML5 supports multimedia animations and ensures the development of web and mobile applications are more interactive, innovative and appealing.
